OPAL is one of the four LEP -experiments at CERN near Geneva which analyse the final states of electron-positron-collisions at centre-of-mass-energies at and above the Z-pole. It has been built and is operated by scientists from 22 institutions. Bonn´s contribution has been to the central jet chamber and in particular its laser calibration system.
At present we are working on the analysis of data collected with OPAL since 1989. A large varity of high precision tests of the Standard Model as well as searches can be performed. If you want to know more about the OPAL experiment, contact the OPAL home page or look at the complete list of OPAL publications.
